Chocolate muffins with owl decoration – a hit for children’s birthdays. Makes 15.

Makes 15. First, cream the margarine or butter in a mixing bowl until fluffy. Then add the sugar and beat until fluffy. Now add the eggs and continue beating until creamy. Mix the flour with the baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder and fold into the mixture alternately with the milk. Finally, stir in the chocolate sprinkles. Place paper muffin cups in the muffin tin and fill with the chocolate batter. Preheat the oven to approx. 180°C (top/bottom heat: approx. 160°C) and bake the muffins for 20-25 minutes. Let the muffins cool, then remove them from the muffin tin. During baking, split the little cookies in half with a knife (tip: it’s easier if you dip the knife in hot water beforehand). Then press a brown chocolate chip into the center to form the pupil. Once the muffins have cooled, spread chocolate icing on them and press the cookie eyes onto them. For the owl’s nose, cut a vertical slit into the muffin and press in an orange chocolate chip. This decoration can, of course, be made with any other muffin recipe.
