Puff pastry bites

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 pc. puff pastry from the refrigerated section
  • 75 g marzipan paste
  • 150 g apricot jam
  • 1 large egg yolk

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

sweet treat – quickly prepared

Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 16 squares. Finely dice the marzipan; this works best when it’s well chilled. Line a baking tray with baking paper and preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) or 180°C (fan). Place some marzipan and a dollop of jam in the center of each square, fold the squares together, and press the edges down with a fork. Place on the baking tray, pierce each piece 2-3 times with a toothpick, and brush with beaten egg yolk. Bake on the middle rack for about 15 minutes, until the pieces are golden yellow. Allow the pastries to cool completely on a wire rack and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired. Of course, these bites also taste good with other fruit fillings and without marzipan; depending on what quick ingredients you have on hand, the sky’s the limit for experimentation.
