refreshing, with cucumber, without lemon

If you don’t have organic cucumbers, peel the cucumber and cut two sticks, each about 4 cm long, from the firm, seedless part. The sticks should be thin, just under 1 cm at most. Pour gin into a glass, place the cucumber sticks inside, and add tonic. If you really want to, add one or two ice cubes. I find this unnecessarily dilutes the drink, and on particularly hot days, I only use the small, reusable plastic coolers to keep it cool. I’ve had the best experiences with Hendricks Gin and Fever Tree Tonic Water. The ‘Mediterranean’ version, in particular, has a very mild flavor and, in addition to the cucumber, smells a bit like dried rose petals.
