Hearty batter

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 3 shots of beer or seltzer for children
  • 3 shots of milk
  • 1 dashes lemon juice
  • 1 pinch(s) of sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

with and without beer

Quickly mix all of the above ingredients into a dough. If desired, you can add other spices, such as curry, paprika, chili, or lemon pepper. The consistency should be neither too runny nor too thick, so that the dough adheres well to the food being fried. You can dip nettles (see my profile), sage leaves, or other ingredients into the dough and then fry them in a pan of fat. If you prefer a sweeter fried dish, such as “Elderunderküchel,” omit the large amount of salt and the other hot, savory spices and use sugar and vanilla sugar instead.
