Germkipferl – a dream recipe from my grandmother

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 250 g sour cream, or Cremefine for cooking
  • 250 g butter
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 1 sachet of dry yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Jam (redcurrant, currant)
  • powdered sugar
  • vanilla sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Mix flour, sour cream, butter, egg, yeast, and salt into a dough. Add more flour if necessary. Roll out the dough thinly and cut out squares. Place a small dollop of jam on each square. You can use any jam, but we like it best with currants. Then shape the dough pieces into croissants, place them on a baking sheet, and bake at 180-200 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes, until light brown. Then roll in a mixture of powdered sugar and vanilla sugar.
