Grandma Gerda's crunchy treats

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 300 g wheat flour, type 405
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 150 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp water
  • 50 g butter, cold from the refrigerator
  • 50 g lard, chilled
  • 30 ml condensed milk
  • Currants
  • Sugar granules

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

for the Advent season or simply for coffee

Mix all the dough ingredients together and knead the dough well. If necessary, chill for a short time to make it easier to roll out. Roll out as thinly as possible (you can also use a pasta machine if you have one). Be careful, the dough tears easily. Use the wheel to form diamonds and place them on a baking sheet lined with baking paper using a large kitchen knife. Brush the cookies with condensed milk and press a currant into the center of each one. Sprinkle with granulated sugar, amount to taste. Bake for about 10 minutes in a preheated oven at 200°C. Don’t let it get too dark; golden brown is just right. Remove from the oven, let it cool, and then store in an airtight container to keep them crispy. The specified amount makes about 2 baking sheets.
