a very tasty winter recipe

Peel the potatoes, trim the savoy cabbage, cut both into pieces, and cook together in salted water until soft. Then strain, reserving the cooking water. Mash the potatoes and savoy cabbage with a potato masher until pureed. Some chunks are fine, though. If the puree is too thick, add a little more of the cooking water. In a large frying pan or saucepan, fry the bacon cubes until crisp. Add the puree and mix well. Stir in the butter, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add more of the cooking water, if desired. This dish tastes delicious and is beautifully rounded off with the nutmeg. My three boys absolutely love it!
