Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 package of puff pastry from the refrigerated section or frozen
  • 200 ml whipped cream
  • 5 tbsp tomato paste, more if needed
  • 1 small can of pineapple pieces, drained
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 150 g cheese (Gouda or mozzarella), grated
  • lots of oregano
  • Herbs of Provence
  • Paprika powder, sweet
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 handful of cherry tomatoes, if desired

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

It doesn’t always have to be Hawaiian toast or Hawaiian pizza.

First, prepare the sauce. Mix the cream with tomato paste, oregano, Provençal herbs, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add a few cherry tomatoes to taste and puree using a hand blender or similar. Season to taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Cut the ham into small cubes and let the pineapple drain. Cut the puff pastry into small squares (approx. 15 x 15 cm). Tip: It’s best to roll out frozen puff pastry a little; then one sheet will yield two squares. Place the squares on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Spread the sauce on one half of each puff pastry square. Arrange the ham and pineapple on top, and sprinkle with cheese at the end. Fold the puff pastry squares closed and press the edges down with your hand or a fork to prevent the puff pastry from rising during baking. Brush the puff pastry squares with egg yolk. Place the baking tray in a preheated oven at 200°C (conventional oven: 180°C) for 20 minutes. Of course, this recipe can be varied as desired.
