Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 225 g wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 orange(s), untreated, zest and 3 tbsp juice
  • 100 g butter, cold
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • some milk for brushing

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 12 minutes; Total time approx. 32 minutes

Preheat the oven to 225°C (top/bottom heat). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and sugar. Add the grated orange peel, juice, milk, and flakes of butter, and knead everything together. Divide the dough into 4 portions. Shape each portion into a ball and flatten it on the parchment-lined baking sheet (approx. 10 cm in diameter and approx. 1 cm thick). Then make deep, cross-shaped cuts with a knife so that the scones just barely hold together. Brush with milk and bake in the center of the oven at 225°C (425°F) for approx. 12 minutes. Let cool on the baking rack.
