Marinated herring

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 400 g fish (herring fillet “Feine Sahne”)
  • 300 g matjes fillet(s), Nordic style or with herbs
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ apple
  • 2 gherkins
  • 1 tbsp cucumber juice
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • n. B. Dill

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Hard-boil and peel the eggs. Drain the oil from the herring fillet. Cut the herring and herring fillet into bite-sized pieces, and dice the onion, apple, gherkins, and eggs. Mix everything together and add a little dill, pickle juice, and milk. Let it sit in the refrigerator for a while. Serve with boiled potatoes.
