Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 30 g butter
- 1 medium-sized onion(s), finely chopped
- 250 g flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- n. B. Salt
- 60 g Parmesan, finely grated
- 125 ml milk
- 125 ml water
- e.g. paprika powder or cayenne pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
For 10 – 12 scones
Melt the butter and sauté the finely diced onions for about 5 minutes, do not brown. Remove from the heat and let cool slightly. Preheat the oven to 210°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, Parmesan cheese, and a pinch of salt. Make a well in the center and add the onions and water-milk mixture. Reserve a little liquid and only mix in if necessary if the dough is too dry. Quickly knead everything with a knife until you have a soft dough. It may still be crumbly. Place the dough on a floured work surface, knead briefly with your hands, and flatten with your hands to a height of about 2-3 cm. Cut out scones with a round cutter, or cut into diamonds or squares with a knife. Quickly press any leftover pieces of dough together and use them. Important: Work quickly and do not knead for too long so the scones are light and fluffy. Place on the baking sheet, sprinkle with paprika or cayenne pepper if desired, and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes. Do the toothpick test! The baking time may be slightly longer or shorter depending on your oven. Serve in smaller portions as finger food. Be sure to adjust the baking time accordingly. Great as a snack, as a side dish for soups and salads, for parties, and for buffets.
