Onion rings, spicy and delicious.

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 vegetable onion(s), approx. 250 g
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 ml rapeseed oil or sunflower oil
  • 150 ml herbal vinegar
  • 50 ml water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 1 day 15 minutes

Mild in taste and very well tolerated!

Halve or quarter the onion, as desired, then cut into 3-4 mm thick slices. Place these in a bowl and fluff them apart with a fork. Place the sugar in a saucepan, mix with the oil and water, and bring to a boil while stirring. Pour the boiling mixture over the onions; they should be completely covered. Let it cool, then cover and refrigerate for about 24 hours. Strain the onions, rinse well with cold water, and serve. I like to eat them as a savory addition to dinner; they have a mildly sour taste, are not at all spicy, and are very digestible. They can easily be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days.
