Ingredients for 3 servings:
- 300 ml milk, minus L
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 tbsp, levelled sugar
- 6 slice(s) toast bread, (sandwich toast)
- 3 egg whites
- 150 g ground almonds
- Clarified butter, for frying
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
also for lactose intolerance
Mix the milk with the sugar and egg yolk. Soak the sandwich slices in the egg mixture. Lightly beat the egg whites with a fork. Then, first coat the slices in the egg whites and then coat them with the almonds. Fry them one at a time in hot clarified butter until golden brown. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and serve immediately with applesauce or plum compote! Caution: The large sandwich slices break easily after soaking. If you’re making this dish with children, cut the slices in half to avoid tears from broken pieces!
