This toast gives even feverish children with dry mouths a tasty energy boost

There are some recipes that make you shudder. Nevertheless, I would like to share a very simple recipe from my childhood, which is especially valuable for sick children. Ingredients: slices of toast, salted butter or very fine-grained (!!) salt spread with butter, creamy peanut butter (unless there is an allergy!), and jam to the child’s taste. Toast the bread, spread with the salted butter, peanut butter, and jam, and serve warm. No child will resist the aroma. Background: children with fever are salt-deprived and need energy, but often don’t want to eat. This toast gives them minerals, fats, and carbohydrates, all in one slice of bread. The jam prevents the peanut paste from sticking in the mouth when the mouth is dry (common with fever). The salty butter promotes saliva production, and the sweet jam is good for the soul. It always did me good when I was sick as a child, and I still occasionally treat myself to a mixture like this, but then with much more sophisticated jams or chutneys. For adults, I recommend the jam versions with orange peel or ginger.
