Classic spicy barbecue sauce with a hint of whiskey

Finely dice the onions and grate or press the garlic. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then purée the sauce finely and pour it into prepared jars while still hot. Note: If you don’t like it spicy, you can omit the Tabasco. After many adjustments, this has become our ideal barbecue sauce.
