Apple and walnut crumble

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 large apples
  • 6 tbsp orange juice
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 50 g honey
  • 50 g walnut kernels
  • 100 g flour
  • 50 g brown sugar
  • 75 g butter, soft
  • possibly cinnamon powder
  • possibly vanilla

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Mix together the orange juice, lemon juice, and honey. Peel and core the apples, cut them into wedges, and arrange them fan-shaped in a baking dish. Pour the juice mixture over the apples. Roughly chop the walnuts and scatter them on top. Knead the flour, sugar, and softened butter into a dough and spread it into the dish as a crumble. Bake at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for about 60 minutes. If you like, you can also add cinnamon and/or vanilla to the apples or to the crumble. It also tastes delicious with vanilla ice cream.
