Semolina dumplings with vanilla sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • ½ liter of milk
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 100 g semolina (soft wheat)
  • Salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 can tangerine(s), (314 ml)
  • 1 pack of sauce powder (vanilla without cooking for 1/4 l milk)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Bring 1/2 liter of milk, 3 tablespoons of sugar, vanilla sugar, and a pinch of salt to a boil. Sprinkle in the semolina and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in the egg yolk. Place the pot in ice water and let cool, stirring occasionally. Drain the mandarins. Whisk the 1/4 liter of milk and the sauce powder vigorously for 1 minute. Fold in the mandarins. Form 8-10 oval dumplings from the semolina mixture using 2 moistened tablespoons. Heat the butter in a pan and fry the dumplings until golden brown. Mix 1-2 tablespoons of sugar and cinnamon and toss the dumplings in it. Serve with the vanilla sauce.
