simple, quick and incredibly delicious!
Place two layers of ready-made puff pastry on top of each other and then fold them twice. Press down slightly with a rolling pin or your hand. Cut out a circle and use a smaller cutter to make the donut hole in the center. Don’t discard the cut-out pieces. Heat the frying oil in a wide saucepan or deep fryer. You can check the temperature with a small amount of puff pastry (left over from cutting out the doughnuts). Place 1-2 cronuts in the oil and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Fry the cut-out pieces as well. Place the finished cronuts on kitchen paper and let them cool briefly. In the meantime, mix the powdered sugar with a little water or lemon juice to make a smooth glaze. Drizzle the glaze over the cronuts with a spoon and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or sprinkles, if desired. We like them best this way, but you can also fill them with buttercream, pudding, or whipped cream and garnish them even more elaborately. These measurements are sufficient for 9 large cronuts and the cut-out pieces.
