  • 1 pack of bread(s), Vinschgauer (rye-mixed flatbread roll) 300g

  • 100 g cheese, grated, e.g. Gouda
  • 1 medium-sized onion(s), (alternatively leeks in fine rings)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

quick after-work cooking

Preheat oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Cut the bread in half crosswise; this is best done with a bread slicer. Lightly toast the slices, then brush with butter and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Trim the fat from the ham with a knife and top each slice with two slices of ham. Peel and halve the onion, and slice or slice into thin rings. Distribute the onion rings (amount to your taste) on the bread and sprinkle with some cheese. Bake in the oven for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is slightly melted. Serve with a mixed leaf salad.
