Ingredients for 20 servings:
- 5 beef sausages
- 7 slices of bacon
- 20 toothpicks
- 150 g brown sugar
- 1 ½ tbsp white wine vinegar
- ¾ tsp black pepper
- 1 ½ tbsp mustard, dark and grainy
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 18 minutes; Total time approx. 28 minutes
First, quarter the beef sausages and third the bacon. Wrap each of the 20 sausage pieces with a third of a strip of bacon and skewer it with a toothpick. Combine the sugar, vinegar, pepper, and mustard in a small saucepan and melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once the mixture is liquid, dip the wrapped sausages in to coat them. Then place the skewers on a wire rack (tip: it’s best to place the rack on a baking sheet lined with baking paper). Bake at 190°C (convection oven) for about 10 minutes, remove from the oven to brush the sausages with the remaining glaze, and then return to the oven for another 5 minutes. Let cool, lifting them from the rack occasionally to prevent them from sticking, and finally serve.
