Danish apple pie

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg apples (Boskop)
  • 5 tbsp sugar , (1)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 75 g butter
  • 100 g sugar , (2)
  • 200 g cream cheese
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g toast bread
  • 100 g almond(s), chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel and slice the apples. Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and sugar (1) and place them in a greased baking dish. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff. Mix the butter, sugar (2), cream cheese, egg yolks, almonds, and the crumbled toast until smooth. Fold in the beaten egg whites and pour the mixture over the apples. Bake at 200°C for about 30 minutes. Best served warm in winter, very cold in summer. If you like, omit the cinnamon.
