Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 glasses of Lentils, red (Kirmizi Mercimek)
- 1 ½ glasses of broken wheat (Pilavlik Bulgur)
- 3 onions
- 3 ½ tsp margarine
- 2 ½ tsp paprika powder
- 2 ½ tsp caraway seeds, ground
- 2 ½ tsp allspice, ground
- 1 bunch dill, chopped
- ½ bunch parsley, flat, chopped
- 6 spring onions
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 salad, green
- 700 ml water

Use standard drinking glasses to measure. Finely chop the onions and sauté them in the heated margarine. Cook the washed lentils in approximately 700 ml of water until soft, then add the broken wheat to the still-hot lentils. Let it simmer until the water is absorbed. If the mixture is too soft, simply top it up with a little more wheat. Add the sautéed onions, salt, paprika, pepper, caraway, allspice, and tomato paste and mix well. Finally, stir in the spring onions, parsley, and dill. Shape the mixture into long, two-finger-thick patties and serve with lettuce leaves.
