Absolutely the best sauerkraut casserole in the world

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 large can of sauerkraut
  • 1 pack of low-fat ham, diced
  • 500 g minced beef
  • 1 bottle of chili sauce or Hungarian-style paprika sauce
  • 2 cups of cream, or Cremefine for cooking
  • 1 cup sour cream, or creme légère
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 5 minutes

Peel the onion and dice it into small cubes. Brown it in a pan with the minced meat. Then transfer it to a casserole dish. Fry the ham in the pan and then add the sauerkraut and chili or paprika sauce. Let everything simmer for a bit, then add it to the casserole dish. Mix together the cream, sour cream, and seasonings and pour over the casserole. Bake in the oven at 200°C for about 15 minutes. Homemade mashed potatoes go perfectly with this.
