Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 liters of water
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 400 g potatoes
  • 250 g Hörnli (pasta) or macaroni (Aelplermagronen)
  • 1 dl milk
  • 2 dl cream
  • 150 g cheese, grated (e.g. Sbrinz)
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 onions
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Bring the water to a boil and season with salt. Wash, peel, and rinse the potatoes, then cut into equal pieces. Add the potatoes to the boiling water. Add the Aelplermagronen and simmer on low heat for 10-15 minutes. Drain well. Bring the milk, cream, and grated cheese to a boil and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Add the potatoes and aelplermagronen, mix thoroughly, and heat through. If desired, arrange the grated cheese in layers with the Aelplermagronen. Heat the clarified butter. Finely slice the onions, add them, and fry until light brown. Serve over the prepared Aelplermagronen. Serve with delicious applesauce.
