Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 bell pepper(s), yellow
  • 1 bell pepper(s), green
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • olive oil
  • 250 ml chicken broth
  • 500 g tomatoes, pureed
  • 500 g tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 can chickpeas
  • 2 tsp five-spice powder
  • 2 turkey schnitzels
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp brown cane sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel and wash the peppers and onions, then dice them. Cut the meat into bite-sized pieces. Peel and chop the garlic. Sauté the peppers and onions with the garlic in heated olive oil for a few minutes, then deglaze with the broth. Add the tomatoes, chickpeas, chili powder, and five-spice powder. Simmer in a covered pan for five minutes. Meanwhile, brown the meat in a pan and season with salt and pepper. Once the meat is cooked, remove the soup from the heat and add the meat. Season to taste with sugar, salt, and pepper, and perhaps a little more chili powder and five-spice powder. Serve hot. Serve with flatbread or freshly baked ciabatta.
