Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 700 g fish fillet(s)
  • 1 kg sauerkraut
  • 6 slice(s) ham, cooked
  • 100 g flour
  • 50 g margarine
  • 250 ml milk
  • 250 ml meat broth
  • 60 g cheese, grated
  • lemon juice
  • Salt
  • Pepper, ground
  • some peppercorns
  • some margarine, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Cook the sauerkraut with a few peppercorns in water without fat and drain well. Season the fish fillets with salt, pepper, and lemon juice, then coat in flour. Melt a little margarine and fry the fish fillets until tender. Place the sauerkraut in an ovenproof dish, arrange the fish fillets on top, and arrange the ham slices over the fish fillets. Make a roux with 50g margarine and 50g flour, add milk and broth, add the grated cheese, and bring the sauce to a boil briefly. Coat the prepared fish fillets in the sauce and bake everything in the preheated oven. Mashed potatoes go well with this sauce.
