Alsatian onion cake

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour
  • 150 g margarine
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 130 g bacon, finely diced
  • 500 g onion(s), cut into thin rings
  • 3 eggs
  • ¾ liter sweet cream
  • 40 g margarine
  • 100 g cheese, grated
  • salt and pepper
  • Fat for the mold

Instructions

Working time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Place the dough ingredients in a mixing bowl and knead well. Place in the refrigerator while you prepare the topping. Melt the margarine in a pan. Sauté the bacon in it, then remove and set aside. Add the onions to the pan and sauté for about 10 minutes. Remove and let cool. Mix the cream, eggs, salt and pepper in a bowl and fold in the grated cheese. Add the onions and bacon cubes. Roll out the chilled dough in a greased springform pan and form a border all around the edge. Now spread the topping on top. Bake in the oven at 200°C on the bottom rack for about 35 minutes.
