American Dinner Rolls

The perfect american dinner rolls recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 tablespoon Dry yeast
  • 0,3 cup Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1,5 cups Milk (43 ° C warm)
  • 5 tablespoon Soft butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 tablespoon Liquid butter
  1. In a large bowl, carefully mix 3 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, salt, milk, butter and the egg.
  2. Using the dough hook of the hand mixer, stir everything on the lowest setting until the flour is mixed with the other ingredients. Don’t forget the batter on the sides of the bowl.
  3. Then work the dough on a medium setting for 2 minutes.
  4. Add ½ cup of flour and mix again until well mixed. Then add another ½ cup of flour and repeat the process. Mix everything together until you have a ball of dough.
  5. Add extra flour if needed. The dough should be a bit sticky and soft, and should come out of the bowl well.
  6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a cloth. Let it rise for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  7. Remove the towel from the bowl and flatten the dough.
  8. Take individual pieces of the dough and form 24 dinner rolls. You can weigh them out to make dinner rolls of the same size.
  9. Place the formed dinner rolls on baking paper. Cover it again with a cloth and let the dinner rolls rise for another 30 minutes at room temperature.
  10. Preheat the oven to 190 °. Bake the dinner rolls for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and baked through. If the dinner rolls brown too quickly, you can cover them with aluminum foil.
  11. Take the dinner rolls from the tray and brush them with the melted butter. Serve them straight away or keep the cooled dinner rolls in a plastic bag for up to 3 days.
