Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 600 g minced beef
  • 200 g veal sausage meat
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion(s)
  • some butter
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • 1 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp Maggi
  • some pepper from the mill
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 dl red wine
  • 1 tbsp instant gravy
  • possibly sauce thickener or starch flour

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 55 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

for those who like a lot of crust

Peel the onion, dice it into small cubes, and sauté it in butter until translucent. Mix the minced meat with the veal sausage meat, then add the glazed onions. Season with mustard, salt, paprika, marjoram, parsley, Maggi, and a pinch of freshly ground pepper. Finally, add the breadcrumbs and mix everything well again to create a homogeneous meat mixture. Line a sheet of aluminum foil, place the meat mixture on it, and roll it into a tight roll. Place in the oven preheated to 200 degrees Celsius and cook for 50 to 60 minutes. Be careful when removing it from the oven; liquid will have collected in the roll and will leak out when you open it; risk of burning! Let the roast rest for a few minutes while you heat oil in a pan. Cut the roast into 2 to 3-centimeter-thick pieces and fry them in the oil until crispy on both sides. The meat juices can be made into a simple sauce with a little red wine, gravy, and sauce thickener. Alternatively, you can also serve it with a different sauce. Pasta or mashed potatoes and some vegetables are suitable as a side dish.
