Antonia's dark beer goulash

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g pork goulash
  • 2 tbsp lard
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 bottle of beer (dark beer)
  • marjoram
  • Caraway seeds
  • 500 g carrot(s)
  • 500 g potatoes
  • possibly sauce thickener

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Brown the meat in the lard, briefly sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic. Season the meat with salt, pepper, marjoram, and caraway seeds. Pour in 1/2 bottle of dark beer, and simmer covered for about 45 minutes, until the meat is almost cooked. Peel and dice the carrots and potatoes. Add them to the pot with the meat, pour in the remaining beer, and simmer for another 15-20 minutes, until the vegetables are tender. Season to taste. Thicken the sauce with a little sauce thickener, if desired.
