Apple compote

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 g apples
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 250 ml water
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon, ground

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Combine the lemon juice and water in a bowl. Wash, peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples, and add them to the lemon water. Bring the apple slices, lemon water, and sugar to a boil, then simmer over medium heat for 15-20 minutes. Transfer the cooked compote to a glass bowl and serve garnished with cinnamon. Apple compote tastes delicious as a dessert with vanilla sauce or whipped cream. If you fill the apple compote while it’s still piping hot, clean jars (fill to the brim) and immediately screw on the lids, it will keep for several months.
