Apple compote – apple sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 3 apples, sweet/crumbly
  • e.g. cinnamon, whole
  • possibly sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

without sugar – ideal for babies and food combining (neutral)

Peel the apples, core them, and cut them into small pieces. Rinse a pot with just water. Add the apple slices. If desired, add a cinnamon stick. Cover and bring to a boil briefly (do not boil). Let the apples simmer over very low heat (with the lid closed) until tender. This will take between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the type of apple and the size of the pieces. Remove the cinnamon stick. If you like, you can puree the cooked apples to make applesauce. The gentle, slow simmering brings out the full apple flavor. And the natural sweetness means you don’t need any more sugar. And if it’s not sweet enough, you can add more sugar to taste.
