Apple Croissant Casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 apples
  • 6 tbsp lemon juice
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 pack of sauce powder, vanilla, for 0.5 l of milk for cooking
  • 3 tbsp cranberries
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • 6 croissants for baking

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Quarter the apples (remove cores) and cut into thin wedges. Heat the apple slices in a saucepan with lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of sugar, cover, and simmer for about 3 minutes. Place the croissants in a shallow baking dish and scatter the apples and juice on top. Beat the eggs with about 12 tablespoons of the milk, the sauce powder, and 3 tablespoons of sugar until smooth. Bring the remaining milk to a boil and stir in the sauce powder mixture. Cook for about 1 minute while stirring, then pour over the croissants and apples. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Place cranberries in dollops on top and sprinkle with powdered sugar to serve.
