quick, delicious apple pie

Note from Chefkoch.de’s recipe editor: The quantities are intended for a so-called fruitcake tray. This is significantly smaller than the tray used in a 60 cm wide oven. Various comments recommend using double the amount for a regular-sized baking tray, while others state that the recipe is suitable for a 28 cm springform pan. Mix the flour, fat, sugar, egg, and vanilla sugar into a batter and spread it on a baking tray. I always use a fruitcake tray, which is slightly smaller than the usual tray. Peel the apples, cut them into pieces, and mix them with the applesauce in a bowl. Pour the mixture onto the batter. For the crumble, melt the fat in a saucepan, remove from the heat, mix the remaining ingredients, and add them. Let this mixture cool briefly and then make a crumble by taking the batter in your hand and crumbling it between both hands. Of course, this is best done over the cake on the tray. Then bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack at approx. 175 degrees Celsius (convection oven) for approx. 45 minutes. But be careful: Always keep an eye on it, as the crumbles burn quickly. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. You can also add chopped walnuts or something similar to the apple mixture. Then top with the crumbles.
