Autumn time is apple pie time. If you do not tolerate eggs, you do not have to do without the treat. We’ll show you how to make apple pie without eggs.
The ingredients for apple pie without egg
The base of most apple pies is made with eggs. However, this does not have to be the case, as the cake also tastes great without eggs.
- For the base, measure out 250 g flour and 75 g sugar.
- You will also need 150g of softened butter and 2 tablespoons of water.
- A teaspoon of baking powder and a packet of vanilla sugar is also added to the batter.
- Prepare three large apples for the topping. You can read about which apple varieties are suitable for baking here.
- If you would like crumbles on the apple pie, you will also need 150 g flour, 150 g sugar, 100 g soft butter, and a pinch of cinnamon.
- Cinnamon can be toxic, so always use caution with the spice and use small amounts.
- For baking, you need a greased springform pan sprinkled with breadcrumbs.
How to bake the apple pie
First, preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- For the dough, cream the butter with the sugar and then add the flour, vanilla sugar, baking powder, and water.
- Knead it into a firm dough, which you then roll out and place in the springform pan. At the edge, push the dough up about two centimeters.
- Now peel the apples, remove the core and decide on a shape. You can cut it into slices, but cubes will also work with the recipe.
- Now cover the base evenly with the apples. If you have decided on slices, it is best to place them in a circle from the outside to the inside.
- If you want crumbles, you should now knead the ingredients and then spread them over the apples.
- The cake will take about 45 minutes to cook. Once the crumbles are golden brown, you can remove them from the oven and cool them on a wire rack.
