Applesauce – Gingerbread

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 150 g butter
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp clove(s), ground
  • ¾ tsp cardamom
  • 1 ½ cups applesauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then gradually beat in the eggs. Combine the flour with the remaining ingredients, except the apple puree, and stir in. Finally, stir in the apple puree. If desired, you can also fold in 125 grams of raisins or 50 grams of chopped walnuts. Spread the mixture onto a greased baking sheet and bake at 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for 20-30 minutes. Then garnish with chocolate icing, candy canes, or chocolate sprinkles, and cut into squares.
