Asparagus casserole

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 600 g asparagus, peeled
  • 200 g grated cheese, e.g. Emmental
  • 200 g cooked ham or turkey breast
  • 1 cup whipped cream, approx. 200 g
  • 1 large egg(s)
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • salt and pepper
  • nutmeg
  • Sugar
  • butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 10 minutes

Peel the asparagus, cut into pieces, and cook in salted water with a little sugar and butter. Cooking time can vary depending on the type and thickness of the asparagus. It’s best to check every 8-10 minutes to see if it’s soft enough. Dice the onion and ham or turkey breast and fry them lightly. Whisk the cheese and cream with the egg and season to taste. Place the cooked asparagus, ham, and onion in a baking dish, pour the cheese mixture over it, and mix gently. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 45 minutes. Since the dish browns quickly, cover with aluminum foil for about 20 minutes at the beginning.
