Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 can tomatoes, chopped, 400 g
  • 80 g onion(s), peeled and weighed
  • 25 g brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp Thai curry powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp, leveled Pul Biber
  • 0.33 tbsp mustard
  • 80 g red wine vinegar
  • ¾ tbsp tomato paste

Finely dice the onion, mix with the tomatoes, sugar, and salt, and bring to a boil. Stir in the other ingredients and simmer the relish uncovered over low heat for about 90 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning. The final weight should be about 300-350g. If preparing a larger batch, pour the hot relish into clean jars and seal with boiled-out lids. For longer shelf life, the jars can also be boiled for another 15 minutes. Use as a spread for delicious crostini or with strong cheeses. Also as a dip for cold meat or poultry. Also great with grilled meat.
