Ayran

Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g Turkish yogurt
  • 400 ml water, cold
  • 1 tsp, heaped salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 3 minutes; Total time approx. 3 minutes

Turkish soft drink

Whisk the ingredients together in a bowl. Large supermarkets sell “Turkish yogurt” in 500 ml tubs, which is best suited for making ayran. It’s a very simple ayran recipe, as you can add mint or ice water to the drink, but that’s too complicated for me personally. The coldest water available from the tap is sufficient for me, as long as the yogurt is well chilled in the bowl and the ayran is refrigerated for a few minutes before pouring the first glass. Depending on the recipe, the drink will vary in thickness. The specified ratio of yogurt, water, and salt suits my taste. Ayran goes excellently with grilled food or kebabs.
