Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg asparagus
- Sugar
- Salt
- 80 g butter
- 150 ml white wine
- 300 g cooked ham
- 80 g mountain cheese, grated
- 10 g butter
Instructions
Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 20 minutes
Peel the asparagus. Bring water to a boil with a little sugar and salt and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove and drain. Melt the butter, but do not let it brown. Place the asparagus in an oblong ovenproof dish and season with salt and pepper. Pour the butter and white wine over it. Cut the ham into strips and arrange over the asparagus. Sprinkle with grated mountain cheese. Then scatter the butter in flakes on top. Place in the preheated oven on the middle rack and bake for 15-20 minutes at 180°C, until the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Instead of mountain cheese, you can use mozzarella for a less intense flavor. If you like, you can also add sliced tomatoes to the cheese.
