Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • some oil
  • 1 large onion(s), diced
  • 300 g rolls or bread, stale, diced
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • some flour, maybe
  • some butter, soft, possibly

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 5 minutes

Preheat oven to 120°C (fan oven). Lightly fry the onion in a little oil. Pour the onion and oil over the diced bread rolls and let it sit for a moment. Add 250 ml of milk and two eggs and knead everything together. Caution: it’s hot; let it cool briefly if necessary! The mixture should have a slightly firm consistency. If it’s too runny, thicken with flour. Pour the dough into a baking dish and smooth it out. If desired, spread a little softened butter over the surface. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 20 minutes. Serve in pieces or slices as a side dish or small meal.
