Baked Emmental cheese

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g Emmental cheese
  • some oil for frying
  • possibly salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 2 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 47 minutes

Using a knife or bread machine, cut the large piece of Emmental into three 1 cm thick slices and set aside at room temperature for 30 minutes, if possible. Heat a little oil in a pan and add the cheese. Fry for 5-7 minutes per side, turning over. The cheese is ready when it’s nicely melted. Serve with a salad and/or baguette. A very tasty vegetarian alternative.
