tastes good with spaghetti
Soak the white bread in a little water. Place the minced meat in a bowl. Squeeze out the excess liquid from the white bread and add it. Knead everything with the egg. Season the minced meat mixture generously with salt and pepper. With moistened hands, form small balls from the minced meat mixture and place them side by side in a baking dish. If using breadcrumbs, omit the white bread. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Heat the oil in a saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic for 1-2 minutes. Add the tomato paste and sambal oelek and stir in, then add the coarsely crushed tomatoes. Cover and simmer the sauce over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Stir in the cream and season with the Italian herbs. Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs. Spread the grated mozzarella on top of the meatballs. Bake the meatballs on the middle rack of the oven for about 25 minutes. We usually eat it with spaghetti, but baguette or ciabatta also tastes delicious.
