Balloon potatoes

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • some fleur de sel, fine
  • some dried herbs of your choice
  • Oil for the tray

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 50 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

a real feast for the eyes

Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Line a baking tray with oiled baking paper and set aside for a short time. Wash the large potatoes thoroughly and cut them in half lengthwise. Place the potato halves cut-side up on the baking tray. Sprinkle the smooth, cut surfaces evenly with fleur de sel. Place the tray on the middle shelf of the oven. After about 45 minutes, the potatoes will begin to form a balloon at the cut surface. From this point, it will take another 5-10 minutes for the balloon to expand and turn light brown. After cooking, sprinkle with herbs and serve with a dip of your choice.
