Balsamic onions

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g shallot(s)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 10 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Antipasti recipe, fine with grilled food

Peel the shallots and sauté them in olive oil in a small saucepan. Add balsamic vinegar, sugar, and enough water to just cover the shallots. Simmer in a covered pan for about 15 minutes. Open the pan and continue to cook over high heat, stirring frequently, until the sauce reaches a syrupy consistency. Serve the onions at room temperature.
