Bavarian cheese dumplings

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 rolls, stale
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 300 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch(s) of pepper
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 200 g mountain cheese
  • Oil for frying
  • possibly breadcrumbs

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Rest time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

Cut the rolls into thin slices and place them in a bowl. Add the egg, salt, and pepper. Pour the lukewarm milk evenly over the rolls. Let them stand for about 20 minutes. Then mix the dumpling dough. Stir in the chopped parsley and grated cheese. The dough shouldn’t be very sticky. If desired, stir in breadcrumbs. Form dumplings and flatten them slightly, similar to meatballs. Fry in a pan in hot oil until golden brown. Can be used as a garnish in meat soup or eaten with sauerkraut.
