Bavarian Herb
The perfect bavarian herb recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 head White cabbage
- 1 Onion
- 1 tbsp Lard
- 1 Apple
- 1 pinch Sugar
- Salt
- Caraway seeds
- 500 ml Vegetable broth
- 2 tbsp Vinegar
- 150 ml White wine
- 1 tbsp Flour
- 150 g Smoked bundle is pork belly
- Cut the cabbage into thin slices without the stalk
- Dice the onion
- Peel and grate the apple
- Cut the bundle into small cubes
- Heat the lard in a saucepan, fry the bundle and the onion in it
- Add the cabbage and apple, season with salt, add sugar, pour in the vegetable stock and stir in the caraway seeds
- approx. Steam with the lid closed for 40 minutes
- After about 20 minutes, season to taste with vinegar and white wine
- Mix the flour in a bowl with cold water and then slowly add to the cabbage to bind it
- Go with boiled potatoes, meat fritters, breaded kottlet, but also simple city sausages and Viennese sausages
