Bavarian Herb

The perfect bavarian herb recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 head White cabbage
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tbsp Lard
  • 1 Apple
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • Salt
  • Caraway seeds
  • 500 ml Vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp Vinegar
  • 150 ml White wine
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 150 g Smoked bundle is pork belly
  1. Cut the cabbage into thin slices without the stalk
  2. Dice the onion
  3. Peel and grate the apple
  4. Cut the bundle into small cubes
  5. Heat the lard in a saucepan, fry the bundle and the onion in it
  6. Add the cabbage and apple, season with salt, add sugar, pour in the vegetable stock and stir in the caraway seeds
  7. approx. Steam with the lid closed for 40 minutes
  8. After about 20 minutes, season to taste with vinegar and white wine
  9. Mix the flour in a bowl with cold water and then slowly add to the cabbage to bind it
  10. Go with boiled potatoes, meat fritters, breaded kottlet, but also simple city sausages and Viennese sausages
