Beef Curry Madras

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 800 g beef
  • 4 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 6 garlic cloves
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp ginger powder
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp spice mix (garam masala)
  • 1 tbsp paprika powder, sweet
  • 1 tsp pepper, coarsely ground black
  • 1 tsp, leveled salt
  • 250 g yogurt

Gosht Madras

Cut the washed meat into small (3-4 cm) pieces. Peel and finely chop the garlic and onions. Heat the oil in an ovenproof pot (or a large frying pan if necessary) and fry the garlic and then the onions for about 3 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Next, add the meat to the pot. Immediately add the ginger powder, chili powder, paprika powder, masala, pepper, and salt. Fry everything for 15 minutes over medium heat, stirring occasionally. After frying, stir in the yogurt and 150 ml water. Cover the pot and braise in the oven at 160°C for 40 minutes. This goes best with basmati rice or chapati bread.
