Beef goulash with red wine

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 500 g beef goulash
  • 2 large red bell peppers
  • 3 large carrots
  • 2 m.-large onion(s), red
  • 350 ml red wine
  • 3 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp, heaped caraway seeds
  • 3 bay leaves
  • 1 tbsp rapeseed oil
  • 2 tsp paprika powder
  • salt and pepper
  • chili flakes

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 45 minutes

Chop the onions, carrots, bell peppers, and meat into small pieces. Add oil to the pot and sauté half of the onions. Then add the tomato paste. Add the meat and caraway seeds to the pot and fry until crispy. Add the vegetables and remaining onions and deglaze with red wine. Let everything simmer for a few minutes. Add water until the goulash is covered. Add the bay leaves, salt, pepper, and chili flakes and let the goulash simmer for 2.5 hours. Season to taste shortly before the end of the cooking time. Add a little water if necessary. Remove the bay leaves before serving. Serve with rice or pasta.
