Beef in tomato sauce

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 750 g tomatoes
  • 1 kg beef goulash
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • 250 ml red wine, dry
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 1 carnation(s)
  • 3 bay leaves

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Peel and finely dice the onions and garlic. Peel and finely dice the tomatoes. Heat the oil in a pan and brown the meat in batches. Add all the meat to the pan, season with salt and pepper. Add the garlic and onions and sauté briefly. Stir in the tomatoes, deglaze with the wine, add the sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, and bay leaves, and simmer covered for about 2 hours.
